BIS grants first license on all India basis

Bureau of Indian Standards has granted the first license on All-India basis for Sanitary napkins against IS: 5405:1980. The license has been granted on voluntary basis to M/S Bellapremier Happy Hygiene care Pvt Ltd, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.

The standard covers the requirements for absorbency and ability to withstand pressure after absorption, disposability, pH value in addition to the manufacture, workmanship and finish. The sanitary napkins shall be packed in polyethylene lined carton or polyethylene bag. The carton shall also contain an instruction leaflet or shall have the instruction printed on the outside of the polyethylene bag or carton.
